Our work

Civic Exchange is a Hong Kong-based non-profit public policy think tank that was established in October 2000. It has solid research experience in social, economic and environmental issues, and have access to multi-stakeholders to shape policy changes. For more information about Civic Exchange, visit: www.civic-exchange.org.

Nature conservation has been a focus of Civic Exchange's work since 2001. Our approach has remained the same in that time: to raise awareness about the value of nature conservation, and to ensure that decisions about conservation are made with the involvement of the wider community.

A major milestone was reached in 2011 with the extension of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) to Hong Kong. This means that Hong Kong must follow an open and participatory process in devising and implementing its biodiversity plans.

Becoming CBD compliant will be a major part of the HKSAR Government's conservation agenda, and Civic Exchange will be following its development to ensure that Hong Kong's ecological value is conserved and enhanced in the long run.
