The State Oceanic
Administration in China has announced a plan to better manage its coastline and
marine territories from pollution, with closer monitoring of biodiversity and
ecosystems, stem the excessive reclamation of coastal areas, and set national standard
to reduce waste discharge into the sea. At the same time, authorities are
aiming to double GDP arising from marine industries, which was 5 trillion yuan
in 2012.
